CEIAG for Headteachers, Governors and SLT

From Ofsted's mouth - well printer

Tuesday 1st April 2014

A few weeks ago I wrote about a conversation that I had with Karen Adriaanse about the inspection of CEIAG. Last week I had a reply to my FOI request in writing. The main point is that according to the reply all inspectors have been trained to inspect CEIAG and each Ofsted inspection should judge the school against the criteria listed in the handbook.

Having spoken to five people whose schools have been inspected over the past few months; I've heard comments from across the spectrum. One school was asked for 5 years destinations data, right down to another who had to explain to the inspector what they were meant to be looking for. The fact of the matter remains. If you are a headteacher, unless you provide independent, timely information, advice and guidance on next steps in education, training and employment, you run the risk of being judged unsatisfactory for leadership and management.

The full response from Ofsted is below, I've redacted my contact details and highlighted what I feel are the pertinent points for headteachers, SLT and CEIAG coordinators.
